The Chair of the Data Futures Partnership, Dame Diane Robertson, has welcomed the announcement that there will be a rethink of plans to collect individual client level data from social service providers.
Dame Diane said:
“Today’s announcement means that agencies can develop a new approach to increasing the availability of data while also building and maintaining public trust. It is particularly welcome that the Social Investment Agency will lead a working group including StatsNZ and NGOs. The views of individual clients must also be actively sought. Our engagement with New Zealanders has highlighted how important it is to listen and respond to what people have say in order to secure their trust.”
